Hi everyone! I’m new to this. I’m new to diabetes and to this group.

Earlier this week I was told I have Type 2 Diabetes and my mind has been going through a lot. I got very discouraged and mildly depressed since I’ve never had to deal with a desease like this before. Thankfully my very supportive SO has made these past few days better.

I now know that I have to make lifestyle changes and it’s been very overwhelming, since I don’t know where to start. I need help finding resources that will help me throughout this new phase in my life.

I have a few questions I was hoping this SUB could help me solve:

  1. What is a good quality glucose test kit I can purchase? I’ve been looking at this one on Amazon but idk if there are better options out there.

  2. What features should I look for in a test kit?

  3. What’s the most economic way of going about the test strips and lancets?

  4. What apps are helpful to you with diabetes? Either for tracking sugar levels or other stuff.

  5. Are there any nutritional resources you would recommend? My doctor told me to look for a nutritionist, but my medical plan doesn’t cover one, and I don’t have the money to consult one. Are there good websites I can visit or apps I can download with various tips, ideas and info on meal prep?

  6. For those of you who needed to loose weight what have l you found helpful? I now have a good motivation, but I don’t know where to start as far as actually exercising.

  7. Any other info on the subject that you would consider helpful.

Thank you all very much in advance!
