[RESOLVED] I woke up my parents and we basically decided to get a bit more sleep and leave super early. I have a Dexcom, so I should be able to monitor my bloodsugar to make sure it’s at a decent number when my pod does eventually fail. Thank you everyone for the responses!
God I feel like such an idiot right now and I don’t know what to do, I’m trying not to panic. There’s a lot of useless context I could give, but the bottom line is my parents are asleep because it’s 2 IN THE DAMN MORNING, and we’re staying at a hotel. The plan is to drive back home tomorrow, a roughly 6 hour drive. My current insulin pump (Omnipod) is due to be changed at roughly 3 in the morning (I have a weird sleep schedule right now), and it will automatically stop working 10 hours after the due date, meaning it will fail entirely by 1pm tomorrow. I could’ve sworn I packed my supplies to change it, but apparently I didn’t and I’m only just now realizing this.
Basically the question is... if I don’t eat anything or take any insulin, how quickly will my bloodsugar rise? If we time things correctly I assume we’ll be able to get home with only about a two hour stretch or less with no insulin, at which point I’ll be able to change the damn thing out, but I’d rather not do that if that means my bloodsugar is going to skyrocket to ridiculous levels but I also really don’t want to wake my parents and tell them we have to leave right now in the middle of the night because I screwed up. I’m just really not sure what to do and I don’t know where I could go to find this information
EDIT: OK just double checked and omnipods fail 8 hours after expiration, not ten, so that’s even less time
