Metformin Side Effects

Been on metformin for almost 6 years at this point, I'm 19. I take what I understand to be a high dosage (2000 mg a day) and I experience what I would describe as severe gastric discomfort and distress. Diarrhea, nausea, acid reflux, all of it. When I took less, I had these symptoms only when first getting used to it but now it seems like they never fully go away as long as I take it, probably because of the size of my dosage. Because I have my various medications shipped to me by mail on my order, sometimes a new bottle of Metformin won't get here until a week or so after I run out, and it's usually in that period of not taking it that I experience minimal to no symptoms. then after only just a WEEK when I start it back up, it comes back full force. That's what's been happening this past week and it has been a real struggle to deal with, constantly going to the bathroom, not being able to sleep from discomfort and feeling dizzy and nauseated constantly, preventing me from being able to focus on work. This is honestly such an issue that I have shit myself at work AND school on accident and had to go home before lol. Does anybody else experience this kind of thing? I brought it up to my Endocrinologist and they just kinda brushed it to the side. Should I be worried? Any tips on improving these side effect symptoms? Thanks!
