I keep reading stories about people rationing insulin and even dying because they can't afford it.
I was thinking if this is your problem you should come to Taiwan to teach English! Reasons below:
-Taiwan needs foreigners to come travel and live here (while teaching english). China has punished them for electing a pro-independence president by cutting off their people's access to tourism visas to starve Taiwan's tourism industry. Covid has made it worse.
-you will get NHI access, this is a medicare-for-all system at $20usd a month premium and deductibles for overnight hospital stays are like $8USD. Your insulin is covered. Doctors are all fluent in English.
-They will hire you to teach English abroad and then you come and quarantine for 14 days before teaching even during the pandemic
-high speed trains and clean, modern subway system
-low cost of living
-$20 usd an hour starting pay
-convenient scuba diving and high, snowy mountains
-most people in Taipei can speak and understand at least a little English
-friendly people (I have stories that would blow your mind)
-November - May is mild and cool weather
-you can stay here on a working visa, and when you get here you can switch to other kinds of visas like entrepreneurship visa
-try to avoid Hess, Kojen and Jumpstart schools if you can but these are a few of the biggest chains that have the money to hire from abroad
-if you are a certified teacher you can teach at public schools and private schools
-need to be native English speaker and have associates or bachelors degree. Even if you don't have the degree you can still come here after COVID is over and travel returns to normal. Just need to do visa runs every 90-days.
If you are struggling to afford insulin, why risk your life to stay in the US? Taiwan needs foreigners to come stay for an extended period and help the economy
