I had to give a talk at a tech conference today to about 50 researchers from around the world. My deck had been finished a week prior and I had rehearsed enough that I could give the talk in my sleep. As my time slot got closer, I was feeling wildly nervous and stressed--unusual for the amount of prep I had done. About five minutes before I was set to start, I got up for water and almost fell over. My blood sugar was 72 and falling! I inhaled half a muffin and a fist of sour patch kids and had to jump right in. Now I'm over 200, but at least I stayed awake during my own presentation. If anyone noticed the shakey hands and wavering speech, they probably thought it was nerves. Stupid disease....
