My daughter has Type 1 Diabetes and I'm hoping some of you folks with Type 1 can share your experience with me.
I'd like to know what it feels like when your blood sugar is high and low. I'd like to be better able to empathize with her when her numbers go out of whack.
She's almost 4 and was diagnosed two years ago. We've adapted well and are fortunate my work health insurance has covered a Dexcom in addition to the OmniPod covered by public health insurance (we're in Canada).
For all the good management we've accomplished there are still the occasional spikes and at times those are accompanied by tantrums.
I'm wondering how much of this is normal kid stuff (she's our first child) and how much could be her feeling off due to the blood sugar being high and then dropping when we finally get it under control.
Any insight you can share is much appreciated.
