In hospital for insect bite. Nurses still no nothing about diabetes management

Hi all. So I'm back in hospital for some minor surgery and once again having issues with how they manage T1s.

They will only test my BGL an hour postprandial, only provide insulin if it's 120+, and then only enough to bring it down to 120. I brought my supples and some NovoLog pens and have been surreptitiously doing my own testing and bolus-ing.

Also, they refuse to split my Lantus dose so I get it all at once in the morning which means it's pretty much ineffective by bedtime. There's no workaround for this.

I spoke with my primary physician and endo, both of whom are registered here, both gave specific orders about how to manage me, and the hospital told them both it was against their policy to do it that way.

It seems ironic that on the one hand they're trying to help me and on the other hand hurt me.

I guess my only advice is to be prepared and smuggle in supplies to treat yourself. Which kind of makes me feel like a criminal.
