Newbie here *waves*

I am in my mid 30's. I have had diabetes type 2 for 5 years. Last year I had a low note (got fired and really didn't feel that motivated) which lasted to this year.

This year I got a new job and back into the groove and started exercising. I think one of the best things about starting a new job is that I refused to find where all the local eateries are and brought a lot of home cooked food instead. I'm eating a lot less meat (my doctor was worried because my protein levels were rather high - just above the recommended average) so I'm enjoying a bit of fish and have implemented 2 vegetarian days a week. My kryptonite is steamed veggies (especially carrots drools). I think because of the change in diet I haven't been able to eat as much junk food or my idea of food I do buy is different. The other day I had some chocolate and while the old me could have binged on it the new me felt really unhappy. I could taste how much sugar was in it and it was waaaayyy too much.. it was disgusting and I had to leave it in the kitchen for everyone else to eat.

I've started taking medication regularly (bought one of those pill dispenser/holder things which is a godsend because I am so forgetful).

I'm pleased to say that in week 8 of regular exercise I freaked out when my doctor sent me for a test which required resting (and I wasn't able to exercise for 24hrs which disrupts my exercise schedule).

As a result of changes my HbA1c has gone from 10.6 in November 2016 to 8.3 in May this year and I've lost 5 kgs. I'm getting there. I know I have a long way to go but still. Progress!!

Does anyone have any intel as to what your HbA1c has to be and how long you have to be at that level for to be negative for T2 diabetes once you've had it? I'm not sure if I can achieve it but it's always good to have a goal to work towards.

Does anyone have any general tips/advice?
