Hello
I've been worrying about diabetes since I had GD in my last pregnancy (just not enough to, you know, actually lose weight and exercise, what a dick). It was totally dust controlled and I never had a fasting about about 5.8, even at 37 weeks pg. Had my H1BAC tested in march and it was 36 or 5.4.
Found out at the weekend we are having number 2. Yay. But tested my fasting sugar this morning and it was 6.0 or 106 :(((((
I've booked an urgent appointment with a specialist tomorrow but am absolutely terrified that I am now fully T2 and that the forming baby will be badly harmed. I know nobody here can give medical advice, I just wanted to rant a bit really because I'm so sad and furious with myself. I can't stop panicking about a baby with severe defects and a future with diabetes - argh!
I don't really want to do a GTT so early on if I'm already high fasting because surely that really can't be good for a developing foetus. my original plan was to eat very strictly all the way through pg, which I started as soon as I found out. But clearly that's not doing the trick with a fasting like that. Does anyone have any particular tips that lower their fasting - any middle of the night small snacks or exercise?
Thanks and sorry for the length!
