I foolishly, about 15 minutes before they drew my blood, chewed up a single werthers coffee caramel hard candy to try and distract myself since I get pretty anxious. Low and behold, what was supposed to be my fasting blood sugar came out at 130. This was about 12 hours after dinner the previous night. There are 4 grams of carbs per candy. Could this, coupled with being on an empty stomach, cause the high reading? I'm a 29 m, about 175 pounds. No other symptoms. All of my other bloodwork was very healthy.
This is what I had one of. https://www.amazon.com/Werthers-Original-Caramel-Candies-5-5-Ounce/dp/B0018AXEWC
