I was originally diagnosed as a Type 2, after loosing 73lbs without trying my doctor finally realized I was indeed... Type 1 diabetic (which should have been obvious I looked like a twig and was only 17 at the time). My fasting sugars were in the 480’s. God knows how high it got when I ate, I can’t feel my toes or penis. This damage happened after only 8 months. How long can a Type 2 diabetic go without medication/treatment and live for? I was almost dead when put in insulin, yet I know Type 2’s who don’t take meds and sure as hell don’t watch what they eat. I know the fact they have insulin makes that huge difference but why doesn’t elevated BG levels kill them quick???
