I’m a clumsy/scatterbrained type of person and on more than one occasion I’ve caught myself getting ready to administer my fast acting insulin instead of my long lasting insulin. I’m fairly sensitive to insulin still at this point (1.5 years since diagnosis) and usually only have 5-6 units for the carbiest of meals I consume. My long lasting insulin is 12 units every night. The results of me accidentally taking 12 units of fast acting insulin before bed would be catastrophic!
In an attempt to prevent me from accidentally overdosing on insulin, I now keep my fast acting insulin strictly in the kitchen and my long lasting strictly in my bedroom.
It’s a simple strategy but figured I’d share to hopefully save a trip to the ER for someone.
