Managing bloods following weightlifting?

T1 diabetic, MDI (Humalog 1.5u to 10g and Lantus 12u night, 8u morning) 7 years

I've recently started fitness classes whereas before I was just running. I can handle my bloods with running, I know how they react.

It's a Les Mills Bodypump class, so it's barbell weight exercises for lots of reps. Before class my bloods were 6.8, after they are 18. I injected 3u (would normally decrease bloods by 9) and after an hour the reading was 15. Injected another 2u and the reading was 12 after a further hour. My class is at 6:45am and it takes me 4 hours post class to bring my bloods down. I've been going for 6 weeks or so and haven't cracked this high.

I feel that if I increase my Lantus before sleep then I'll risk a nighttime hypo. I tried increasing morning Lantus by 2u but it didn't seem to have an effect. Should I be doing a bolus injection just before?

I know anaerobic activity increases blood sugars but I am really struggling with this. How do you manage it?
