Hey all, more of a "poll the community" question because there's no way drug companies would actually answer these questions honestly, but I've been using the omnipod for about 2 years now and am very happy with it in general, but there are a lot of annoyances that occur way too often with it. They fail on me at least once a week, sometimes more, due to either static shock from clothing, falling off while exercising, or randomly occluding, but today I put a new one on and over the next few hours my blood sugar rose from 90 mg/dL to over 350 despite exercise, continued insulin correction boluses, and a lack of food. I use a CGM and always get hopeful when I see the trend level out for a bit because "oh maybe the insulin is working now," but it continued to stay high. No big deal, probably a shoddy pump like the rest of them, so I decided to just change my pod and call up and get a new one sent to me to replace this one. When I ripped off the pod from my leg, blood came gushing out and got all over me and my clothes and I had to apply pressure for 5 minutes to stop it. When I got a hold of Insulet on the phone, they were less than helpful and told me that I may have hit a vein and that I should go see a doctor... Has this happened to anyone else before? Did I hit a vein? If I was pumping insulin IV, why didn't my BG drop (it's since gone down after I switched infusion sites, so it wasn't the insulin). Does this happen with other pumps? I've never been on a pump with tubing and it looks really inconvenient to have to take them off to swim and shower and workout, but are incidents where the pumps fail less common with other brands of pumps that use more traditional infusion sites and tubing?
tl;dr my omnipod site started gushing blood, any recommendations for other pumps and/or solutions?
