I'm having a really had time controlling my morning sugar levels.
Normally, I eat ~50-60g of carbs in the morning. I constantly had a high spike afterwards, and if I increased insulin dose, it came crashing down 2h later into a low.
Now I decided to try skipping breakfast, and both times I saw this behavior (example)
- 06:00 5U Novorapid, sugar at 145 (injection to combat wake-up rise, without it, my sugar rises by itself by 60 or 70 points).
- 08:30 Basal injection (30U Levemir), sugar at 121.
- 10:00 6U Novorapid, sugar at 123 (this used to be enough before I skipped breakfast)
- 10:30 40g carbs in rye bread and cheese
- 11:30 Boom, sugar explodes to 286 within 20 minutes, Dexcom arrow is going straight up
Same happened yesterday, soon as I ate anything at all, sugar level exploded sky high.
Aside from this, currently, I have two options on most meals:
- High insulin dosage, relatively small rise after eating (up to 170 usually), but end up going low 3-5 hours later because it continues to drop
- Lower insulin dosage, sugar spikes to 200-230, then drops back down very slowly over several hours to a good value
Any ideas on both these issues?
